As a former substitute teacher, Marc knows that a great education is the key to opportunity for our families – and to economic growth for our region. He has championed our public schools since the very beginning of his career, fighting billions of dollars in education cuts as a State Representative. As a member of Congress, he has continued the fight for educational opportunity by championing initiatives to strengthen STEM instruction, to expand college financial aid to more families, and to end bullying.

More from Marc on Education:

  • H.R. 1833, FAFSA for All Act: Marc introduced this bill that ensures equal access to federal financial aid for all American students, despite the immigration status of their parents.
  • Annual Teen Summit & Job Fair: Marc is proud to host this yearly event to educate North Texas students on financial aid and scholarship opportunities, internships and apprenticeships, military academy appointments, and job interview strategies, and to introduce students to potential summer employers.
  • Education Task Force: Marc has convened a regional task force of area education leaders to develop strategies for improving education for all of our students, and to connect educators to new programs and initiatives.
  • H.R. 3516, the Reduce Barriers to College Act: In 2017, Marc introduced this, which aims to streamline the burdensome Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) verification process for students who must prove that their families did not file federal taxes. The bill directs the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to create a FAFSA-specific online portal for non-filing applicants and requires the agency to respond to any requests for non-filing letters within 10 business days.
